Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- 4" x 11" of cardstock (I used Soft Sea Foam, Just Jade, and Misty Moonlight Cardstock)
- 4" x 7-3/4" from Penguin Playmates 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (for the multi-colored stripes piece make sure the stripes are horizontal on the vertical rectangle, for the trees piece make sure the trees are vertical on the vertical rectangle)
- 3" x 4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1/2" x 4" from cardstock (I used Soft Sea Foam, Basic White, and Fresh Freesia)
- penguins, polar bears, foxes, and snowmen hand cut from pieces of Penguin Playmates 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper using Paper Snips Scissors
Place the 4" x 11" piece of cardstock on the Simply Scored Scoring Tool so the long edge is flush with the top of the base of the tool. Use the stylus to score all the way down at the 1-1/4", 5-1/4", 6-1/2", and 10-1/2" marks.
Before moving the cardstock, use the stylus to make a tiny score mark at the 5/8" and 5-7/8" marks. Do NOT score all the way down with these marks.
Rotate the cardstock so the long edge without the tiny score marks is against the left edge of the base of the tool. Use the stylus to score all the way down at the 1-1/4" mark.
Place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Use a ruler and the stylus from the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score a diagonal line from the tiny mark you made at 5/8" mark to the left corner of the scored rectangle. Use the stylus and ruler to score a diagonal line from the 5/8" mark to the right corner of the scored rectangle.
Leave the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Use a ruler and the stylus from the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score a diagonal line from the tiny mark you made at 5-7/8" mark to the left corner of the scored rectangle. Use the stylus and ruler to score a diagonal line from the 5-7/8" mark to the right corner of the scored rectangle.
Fold on all the score lines. Use the Bone Folder to crease the straight lines. Don't worry about creasing the diagonal lines, just fold on them.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off the tiny flap at the bottom of the skinny rectangle made by the 10-1/2" score line. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut up to the 1-1/4" score line along the bottom to make the flaps for the bottom of the bag. Angle cut the two small flaps so they fit better inside the bottom of the bag.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the 1/2" wide flap at the end. Remove the protective backing and fold the bag over to adhere to the 1/2" flap. Put Tear & Tape Adhesive on one of the long bottom flaps. Remove the protective backing and fold the bottom flaps together to make the bottom of the bag.
Gently squeeze the open top of the bag together making a tent shaped bag.
Place one short edge of the designer paper piece about half way up the bottom of the bag making sure the right and left edges of the bag and designer paper line up. Gently crease the designer paper over the edge of the bottom of the bag.
Place the bottom of the bag with designer paper in place on your work surface. Gently crease the paper over the top of the squeezed together top of the bag.
Rotate the bag around so the designer paper meets up with the designer paper already on the bottom of the bag and gently crease in place.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the top edge of the designer paper at the bottom of the bag. Remove the protective backing and fold the other end of the designer paper over and seal in place.
You should now have a tent bag made out of cardstock held closed by the wrapper of designer paper. The tent bag should slide in and out of the wrapper.
Fill the bag with treats and push it into the wrapper of designer paper.
Use your fingers to tear a 4" long strip from the top of the 3" x 4" piece of Basic White Cardstock. Keep both pieces.
Adhere one of the torn white pieces to the bottom edge of the front of the bag so the torn edge is at the top. If desired, adhere the other torn piece in place so it is tucked behind the top of the first piece and the torn edge is at the top. Use Paper Snips to trim the flat bottom of the 2nd torn piece if needed.
If you haven't already done so, cut out a penguin, polar bear, fox, or snowman by hand from a piece of Penguin Playmates Designer Paper using Paper Snips.
Tip: This is a good project to use partial character images from the bottom edges of the designer paper pieces as you can tuck the bottoms of the cut out characters under the torn snow white pieces of cardstock if needed.
Unlock the Banners Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the skinny cardstock strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the inward notch) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch. I used Soft Sea Foam, Basic White, and Fresh Freesia Cardstock.
As you are ready to stamp using the Penguin Place Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Penguin Place Set on Block G. Figure out whether you want the punched end of the strip to be on the right or left side and place it on the Stampin' Pierce Mat accordingly. Ink up the sentiment and stamp it near the punched end of the strip. I used Just Jade and Misty Moonlight Ink Pads.
If you are making multiples and want to use different colors of ink for the sentiment, remember to clean the stamp in between colors using the Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner and/or Simply Shammy.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the cut out designer paper character and punched sentiment strip on the front of the bag to figure out placement.
When happy with the placement, adhere the punched sentiment strip in place. Trim off excess cardstock on the end of the sentiment strip as needed using Paper Snips Scissors. Adhere the cut out designer paper character in place so it covers the end of the punched sentiment strip. If desired, tuck the bottom of the character between the layers of torn snow white strips.
Cut a 4-1/2" piece of the ribbon of choice. I used Just Jade & Gold 3/8" Braided Ribbon, Fresh Freesia 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to an upper corner on the front of the bag.
