Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Basic Gray Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Basic Gray Cardstock
- 2-1/4" x 2-3/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 1-3/4" from So Saffron Cardstock
- 1-1/4" square from So Saffron Cardstock
Pick out the long, skinny label die with pointy ends from the Potted Succulents Dies. Put it on top of the horizontal Basic Gray rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is about 1-1/4" from the bottom and the left end of the horizontal die is about 1" from the left edge. Run through the machine.
Note: You are using the large rectangle with the label cut out of it for this project. Just throw the label cut out away.
Place the Basic Gray rectangle with the label cut out of it on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface.
Rub a Sponge Dauber across the open, inked up white Craft Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub excess ink off on Grid Paper. Lightly rub color all over the Basic Gray rectangle with the label cut out of it. Get more ink on the Sponge Dauber as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Daubers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Mount the "Reach for the Stars" sentiment from the Stellar Birthday Set on Block A. Ink it up using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp the words onto the horizontal, sponged Basic Gray rectangle so they are about 3/8" from the top edge and about 1-1/4" from the left side.
Squeeze the Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush to get lots of ink on the brush tip. Hold the brush tip horizontally over the sponged and stamped Basic Gray rectangle with the label cut out of it and tap the brush sharply to make dots of glittery ink splatter onto the cardstock. Repeat until you have the coverage you want. Set the cardstock aside to allow it to dry.
Tip: The closer you hold the brush to the cardstock, the larger the splatters will be.
Mount the girl or boy astronaut image from the Stellar Birthday Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the larger white rectangle.
Mount the dog astronaut image from the Stellar Birthday Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the smaller white rectangle.
Put the stamped astronaut and dog images on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Ivory Stampin' Blends to color in the astronaut's face.
Use the Bronze Stampin' Blends to color in the astronaut's hair and eye balls.
If you stamped the boy astronaut, use the Light Real Red Stampin' Blends to color in his tongue.
Use the Light and Dark Real Red Stampin' Blends to color in the astronaut's gloves, boots, belt, fittings on the side of the helmet, and helmet collar.
Use the Dark So Saffron Stampin' Blends to color in the astronaut's belt buckles and star patch.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
Use the Light and Dark Real Red Stampin' Blends to color in the dog's collar and boots.
Use the Bronze Stampin' Blends to color in the dog's right ear and patch over his eye and the patch near his tail.
Use the Ivory Stampin' Blends to color in the dog's left ear and patch near his collar.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends as needed to remove excess color.
If the splattering on the Basic Gray rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Put a Stampin' Dimensional in the center of a penny. Lay the Basic Gray rectangle over the penny with dimensional so the dimensional is in the center of the cut out on the Basic Gray rectangle. Peel off the protective backing on the dimensional and adhere another penny to it. Tilt the Basic Gray rectangle back and forth to make sure the penny/dimensional sandwich slides back and forth inside the label cut out smoothly.
Put Stampin' Dimensionals all over the back of the Basic Gray rectangle with penny/dimensional sandwich attached making sure that none are too close to the label cut out. Remove the protective backings and put another Stampin' Dimensional on top of each dimensional already in place. Remove the protective backings and adhere the Basic Gray rectangle with penny/dimensional sandwich attached to the front of the Basic Gray card. Tilt the card back and forth to make sure the penny/dimensional sandwich still spins smoothly in the track.
Use Paper Snips to cut out the colored astronaut and dog images by hand. You can just cut off the thin line attached to the bone on the dog image.
Use Stampin' Seal to adhere the dog cut out to the front of the card in the upper left corner at a slight angle next to the sentiment.
Put small pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive on top of the penny/dimensional sandwich. Remove the protective backings and adhere the astronaut cut out to the penny/dimensional sandwich so it is centered over the penny. Tilt the card back and forth to make sure the astronaut spins smoothly in the track.
Pick out one of the sets of three small stars dies from the Give It A Whirl Dies. Put it on top of the So Saffron rectangle on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the large star cut out to the front of the card in the upper right corner.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the other two stars in a rough triangle below the large star as shown.
Mount the grouping of planets image from the Stellar Birthday Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the small So Saffron square so you get the Saturn image.
Put the stamped Saturn image on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Real Red Stampin' Blends to color in the planet. Leave the ring yellow.
Use Paper Snips to cut out the colored Saturn image by hand.
Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the Saturn cut out to the front of the card in the lower right corner at a slight angle.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a small Rhinestone Basic Jewel from the sheet of jewels making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the large star cut out.
