P retty birthday card using the drapery fold and Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer:
- card from Real Red Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Basic White Cardstock
- 5" x 12" of red circle berries in circular groups of four on white background design from Painted Christmas 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 1-3/4" x 4" from Calypso Coral Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 3-1/2" from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock
As you are ready to stamp using the Sweet Strawberry Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the sentiment of choice from the Sweet Strawberry Set on an appropriate size block. Ink it up with the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower right or left corner of the horizontal white rectangle depending on which way your drapery is angled.
Place your designer paper horizontally on a piece of Grid Paper. Use a pen or pencil to make a small mark at the 1/2" mark along the left short edge of the paper. Use a pen or pencil to make a small mark at the 4-1/2" mark along the right short edge of the paper.
If you want your drapery to go the go the other direction, then put the small mark along the left short edge at 4-1/2" mark and the mark along the right short edge at the 1/2" mark.
If you want to make two of these cards, then put the entire piece of designer paper on the Simply Scored Scoring Tool so the long edge is against the top of the scoring area. If you only want to make one card, then cut your designer paper in half on the diagonal as outlined in the next step first. Then, put the designer paper on the Simply Scored Scoring Tool so the long edge is against the top of the scoring area.
Score the paper going down at the 1", 3", 4", 6", 7", 9", and 10" marks.
Place the designer paper on your Paper Trimmer so the marks at either end of the vertical paper are lined up on the cutting line. Cut on the diagonal line.
If you are making two cards, cut on the diagonal after scoring the lines in the previous step.
If you are only making one card, then cut on the diagonal before scoring the lines in the previous step.
Fold along the longest score line so it is a valley fold. Alternate the direction you fold the remaining score lines. Leave the final score line along the narrowest part unfolded Use a Bone Folder to get sharp creases.
Holding the folds in place, put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive across the back side of the folded designer paper along the long, top edge. Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the longest side edge as well. Remove the protective backings and adhere the folded designer paper to the stamped white layer so there is about 1/8" of white showing along the long top edge and the longest side edge as well.
Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess designer paper along the bottom long edge and the short edge of the white layer as needed.
Cut a 6" piece of the Real Red 3/8" Mini Ruffled Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the layered designer paper/cardstock pieces about 1/4" from the top. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add Stampin' Seal to the back of the white rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Real Red card.
Mount the solid strawberry image from the Sweet Strawberry Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Calypso Coral Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the horizontal Calypso Coral strip so the wider part of the berry is on the bottom. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and/or Simply Shammy, but leave it on the block.
Ink up the solid strawberry image on Block B using the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it on the other end of the horizontal Calypso Coral strip so the wider part of the berry is on the bottom. Leave space between the images so you can punch them out.
Mount the outline strawberry image from the Sweet Strawberry Set on Block B. Ink it up with the Real Red Ink Pad. Stamp it over the previously stamped solid Calypso Coral strawberry image so the edges line up. Clean the stamp using the Stampin' Mist and Stampin' Scrub and/or Simply Shammy, but leave it on the block.
Ink up the outline strawberry image on Block B using the Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad. Stamp it over the previously stamped solid Real Red strawberry image so the edges line up.
Unlock the Strawberry Builder Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide one of the stamped strawberries into the punch and get it centered in the strawberry punching area. Punch. Repeat with the other stamped strawberry. Leave the punch unlocked.
Mount the solid leaf cap image from the Sweet Strawberry Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Pear Pizzazz Ink Pad. Stamp it on one end of the vertical Pear Pizzazz strip so it is oriented the same way as the coordinating punching area in the Strawberry Builder Punch. Re-ink the stamp with the Pear Pizzazz Ink Pad and stamp it again on the other end of the vertical Pear Pizzazz strip making sure it is oriented the correct way.
Mount the outline leaf cap image from the Sweet Strawberry Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Garden Green Ink Pad. Stamp it over the previously stamped solid leaf cap images, remembering to re-ink the stamp each time.
Slide one of the stamped leaf cap images into the unlocked Strawberry Builder Punch and get it centered in the leaf cap punching area. Punch. Repeat with the other leaf cap image.
Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere the leaf cap punch outs to the tops of the punched out strawberries.
Adhere the darker strawberry with leaf cap to the upper part of the card using Stampin' Seal so it covers the first short fold in the drapery a bit. Adhere the lighter strawberry with leaf cap to the card so it overlaps the first strawberry a bit on the right side and is a bit lower using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Real Red 3/8" Mini Ruffled Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon already on the card just over the stems of the strawberries. Tie in place with a half knot. Trim the ends.
