T
his technique allows you to take a detailed stamped image and add multiple layers of color using a water-based marker.
There are lots of options for color combos, but you do want your base ink to be light so that the accent colors show up.

Instructions:
*For the base ink on this project, I used a new ink, Basic Beige, which will be available beginning 5/1/24. If you have the retired Sahara Sand ink pad, that is a good substitution.
**I also used a retired white ribbon for this card, but you can substitute any white ribbon or one in a color that matches your color selections.
Burnish the score on the card base.
If you're using a white ribbon, color it using the Tahitian Tide Blends, using the brush end. Lay the brush horizontally and run it down the length of the ribbon until it is colored to your liking. It's ok to make it variegated (not solid), it gives it a different look! Set the ribbon aside to dry.
Adhere the Tahitian Tide and Melon Mambo layers to the front of the card base.
Take the largest flower stamp and ink it with your base color (Basic Beige for this card). Place the inked stamp on your work surface so that the inked surface is facing up.
Take one of your water-based markers (NOT blends!) and using the brush tip, start "thumping" color up and down your stamp. You are thumping the color on the stamp, not coloring the images. You are applying random spots of color. I went up the stamp once, going side to side, and came back down again. You want random placement here. Depending on the color ink you are using, you may not see where it is landing on the stamp. This is OK!
Take your 2nd marker and repeat the process above.
Once you are finished with the markers, take the stamp and stamp it diagonally on the 3 3/4" x 3 1/2" piece of white card stock. You can now see where you "thumped" the other colors!
Clean your stamp off and repeat the same steps, stamping your image in the opposite direction on both sides of the original stamped image. Be sure to clean your stamp each time.
Using the small sand image-looking stamp, fill in your white space using the same ink used for your base ink layer.
Once you are satisfied with your stamped images, wrap your ribbon around the bottom section of the stamped layer. The bottom of my ribbon is about 1/2" up from the bottom.
Adhere this layer to the card front.
Take the 3" x 2 2/4" piece of white cardstock and stamp your sentiment using Tahitian Tide ink. I used a die from Nature's Print for the sentiment. You can use whatever you have on hand!
Attach the sentiment using dimensionals over the ribbon.
Take the Melon Mambo blend and color in several rhinestones. Place them on the front of your card.
Using the same thumping technique, stamp one flower on the corner of your envelope.
You are finished!
